Contemporary Flutist, Educator, Recording Engineer

Dr. David Klee recently retired (May 2022) from Buena Vista University (Iowa) as Distinguished Professor of Music after teaching there for twenty years. Dr. Klee served as the Director of Jazz Studies/Music Production where he created and established the recording technology program. Prior to his appointment at Buena Vista University, Dr. Klee was the Director of Bands at Peru State College. 

While living in Georgia he served on the  music faculties at both Georgia College & State University and Mercer University (Georgia). While at Buena Vista University Dr. Klee was the principal flutist for the Fort Dodge Symphony and the Karl King Band for many years. Dr. Klee received his Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in flute performance from the University of Georgia in 1998.

Before he became an educator, Dr. Klee toured for ten years as  a professional musician on flutes, tenor sax, and electric bass. He performed throughout the Eastern Seaboard including cruise ships to the Bahamas. During this time he worked for several recording artists culminating with RCA recording artist Razzy Bailey.

In 2023, Dr. Klee was selected as a Nebraska Arts Council Artist-teacher where he visits schools and gives performances/clinics on flute (as well as working with the concert/jazz band programs).
